Jeune Radha, entourée de livres et de sa famille, a peu de contact avec Sundar, un garçon qui l’aide à vivre une vie privilégiée. Sundar s’enfuit et lorsqu’elle le retrouve des années plus tard, Radha se demande s’il n’est pas plus libre qu’elle. Dans la trentaine, dans l’Inde moderne, servie à nouveau – cette fois par Umesh – elle pense à Sundar et le cherche.
Les Chroniques d’Umesh sont une carte du passé et un croquis pour l’avenir.
Young Radha, surrounded by books and family, has little contact with Sundar, a boy who helps her a life of privilege. Sundar runs away and when she meets him years later, Radha considers that he may be more free than she is. In her 30s, in modern India, served again-this time by Umesh, she thinks of Sundar and seeks him out.
